I have made the decision to drop the rules for this Nodevember and, even though it's actually the only purpose, won't be doing "nodes only" this year. The reason being that I feel the prompts are just way more fitting for environments and somehow also expect more complexity than I would want to put into everything being node-based.
Participating in challenges like these is about fun and limiting my ideas to things I can accomplish in time by just using nodes is not fun to me. Therefore my prompts will be more open from now on, partially with nodes, partially only nodes and sometimes, like this one, just in Blender directly.
I am also trying to get more into animating and compositing as these are probably my weaker areas.
To get this one done I have used some assets from Megascans and GScatter and tweaked their shaders, so only the backfacing Geometry is emitting light and shining through itself to some translucency and frensel effects. I also stuck the camera directly to the bike and animated it with some noise to get the wobbly look. I also animated the wheels and the bike to follow a curve while dynamically painting on the surface below it, giving me a real time weightmap that controls the distribution and size of the plants. Some more noise at a few points to break up the technical pattern and voilá.
